Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India] - On May 19, Sunrisers Hyderabad's bowler Harshal Patel marked a significant achievement by claiming his 150th wicket in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during a match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium.

Despite being one of the pricier bowlers for Hyderabad, Harshal managed to secure this milestone with the fewest deliveries in IPL history.

He had to wait until the 16th over to take his only wicket of the match, where he bowled a perfect yorker to dismiss Aiden Markram, who had scored 61 runs off 38 balls. Harshal concluded his spell with figures of 1/49 after bowling four overs.

Celebrating his 150th wicket, Harshal achieved this feat in just 2381 deliveries, surpassing the previous record held by Lasith Malinga at 2444 deliveries, as well as Yuzvendra Chahal (2543), Dwayne Bravo (2656), and Jasprit Bumrah (2832).

However, his achievement was somewhat overshadowed by the explosive performances of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, who dominated the early stages of the match. Marsh started strong, hitting a boundary on the first ball he faced.

The opening pair of Marsh and Markram put together a solid partnership, ending the powerplay at 69 runs without losing a wicket. Their 115-run stand was finally broken by Harsh Dubey, who took Marsh's wicket as he attempted a risky shot.

Nicholas Pooran then took charge, leading Lucknow to a formidable total. He showcased his power hitting, including a massive six in the final over, before being run out for 45 runs off 26 balls. Akash Deep made a brief appearance, hitting a boundary to help Lucknow finish at 205/7.
